Plan-Project-Program and Sevenfold Structure of Planning

Let’s look at the 3rd Field in its complete unfolding as Plan/Project/Program.

The three terms are seemingly equivalent, yet the ethymosophical [1] key reveals significant differences. As a result of this research, Plan has been defined as spatial consciousness of purpose, while Project suggests a more manifest level, “projected” in fact, a plan broken down into the various aspects required for its implementation. Plan is thus transformed first into a Project and then into a Program, that is, a project in which the variable of “time” is inserted, without which no project can be complete.

In this triad the concept of hierarchy is present (already mentioned in one of the “transversal Directions” [2]) according to which it is possible to make the following analogy:

Idea is to Plan, such as Formula is to Project, such as Form is to Program

We shouldn’t neglect to note, however, that an Idea can be represented by different Formulas, each of which can, in turn, give rise to multiple Forms. In the same way, a Plan can manifest through diversified Projects, each of which may be, in turn, variously Programmed with respect to constraints, needs and availability of resources.

Upon these necessary premises, we can begin to formulate some fundamental questions regarding our future path as Planetary-Conscious Atoms, (see page 4 of the document “The Analogical Thinking ” [3]).

• What is the Plan for Humanity on Planet Earth?

• How can/must each individual life fit within the planetary and human Plan?

These are fundamental questions to which we can now add some formulas, according to a septenary starting from the second term of the triad (Plan-Project-Program) which qualifies the 3rd Field, i.e., Project.

   3 Light is the Basis of Planning

3.1 The Project is a function of the Aim

3.2 The Project is a bridge/projection to the future

3.3 The Project is the innovation/adaptation of forms

3.4 The Project is an imitation of the Model

3.5 The Project is the multiplication of possible executions

3.6 The Project is the creation of a common heritage

3.7 The Project is Light, Innovation, Future, Beauty

The initial formula introduces the idea of Light, which is assigned to the 3rd Field, the Plan, as well as the idea of Love which correlates to the 2nd Field (of Service), and the idea of Power correlates to the 1st Field (Purpose/Aim).

If a Purpose is defined and a certain Field of Service is identified, there is the need to set up a Plan which will find its expression through a “luminous” project.

Why have we matched Light to Project in this way?

The seven formulas that follow provide some guidance in this regard, introducing their consideration in detail in future articles. For now let’s look at how the formulas above often correlate, directly or indirectly, to the other Fields:

– the first (3.1) reduces to the Aim;

– the second (3.2) projects into the future, thus tracing out the Field of Service;

– the third (3.3) orients to the innovation/adaptation of forms, which are essential in any Project/Program;

– the fourth (3.4) refers to the need to be inspired by the Model and to identify specific References;

– the fifth (3.5) concerns the need to establish a cultural domain which allows the execution of multiple diversified activities;

– the sixth (3.6) regards the duty of creating a common heritage, available for future generations;

– the seventh (3.7) summarizes some of the main qualities resulting from the route taken.

A plan would not make any sense without a Purpose

and any will, to be fulfilled, needs a Plan.
