From the Lambdoma of the Genesis of Ideas:
1.5 Thought – Thought is the realizing power of Life
5.1 Spirit – Spirit is the omnipotence of Life
This Polarity expresses and realises the relationship between these Primary Ideas:
1.1 Life – Life IS
and
5.5 Manifestation – Manifestation is
the emergence of the divine Design
Life, in its pursuit and expansion, uses the power of the Fifth Ray to create its forms of expression and give rise to Manifestation. Its Purpose and Design are not knowable by the human mind, yet its beauty and order and the inexhaustible energy of its expression give the Heart the opportunity to perceive its essence. Through direct knowledge (another name for Intuition), that is, through the higher Mind of which Venus is the instrument, it reveals the Design through its Forms.
Man, son and part of God, is also a creator and builder of works, all the more perfect and harmonious the more they conform to the Divine Model. Using this faculty is given to everyone, using it for the Good and the Beautiful requires an open Heart and a luminous Mind: growing and evolving in this art is certainly part of the Divine Plan designed for humanity, a bridge between kingdoms, which is entrusted with the task of “connecting above and below”.
Every human being is given this faculty. Inevitably the prototypes of human creations will be imperfect or even wicked for a long time, and yet the Power of the Spirit cannot be deflected and distorted for long, and indeed every “failed” attempt is an inevitable source of improvement.
In this time of Taurus/Scorpio, in which Venus and Pluto align heliocentrically (focusing on the two formulas highlighted here), humanity is flooded with the impetuous Light and Beauty-building Force of Taurus, as well as by the incessant battle for perfection and purification of Scorpio. It is the axis of Humanity, of the Fourth Ray that characterises it, and it is also the axis of exoteric expression of Venus (Taurus) and Pluto (Scorpio): what a perfect correspondence, what an admirable support to the practical and formal work of Spirit and Thought!
And here the power of Thought (1.5) is revealed, an instrument given to creators, through which Life manifests its being and conveys and articulates the eternal and immutable omnipotence of the Spirit (5.1) in multiple forms.
Let us reflect on the key words of the 1.5 – 5.1 relationship.
Thought
From the Provençal pensier, thought, derived from the Latin to think, to weigh and, figuratively, to ponder. Pensare (to think) is intensive of pendēre, being suspended, which some linguists believe originates from the Indo-European root * PAND-/* SPAND- which expresses the idea of motion in suspension.
The term expresses the concept of a motion whose impulse comes from above.
Spirit
From the Latin spiritus, breath, breeze, puff, vital principle, derived from the Latin verb spirare, soffiare (to blow). From the idea of a breath, which is light and invisible, it went on to express any incorporeal substance. From the Indo-European root *SPA-/*SPU-, which expresses the idea of blowing. In Greek psycho means to blow, to breathe; psyché, breath and, since this is the sign and condition of living, vital breath, life, soul, spirit (and also “butterfly”). In French it is esprit, in English spirit.
The term psyche was first used in ancient Greek poetry and Homer sees it as a breath of life. In Plato, the term fully takes on the meaning of a soul that survives after death. In Russian, spirit is expressed by the term duch, from the Indo-European root *DHU-, which gives the idea of “pushing hard on a fire”. From the Sanskrit dhuma derives the Latin fumus, smoke, and the Greek thymos, spirit, soul. (F. Rendich)
Thinking, therefore, is creative, it is “born of the Spirit” and can collaborate to the divine Plan on Earth if it breathes and exhales the essence of Fire.
“If the significance of the spirit is great, then how much value has the child of spirit—thought?” (Leaves of Morya’s Garden I § 335)
“Only the thought which is saturated with the emanations of pure Fire produces an intense spiral. Thought is the seed of spirit and of action.” (Infinity II § 40)
“The symbol of Fire is found in all Teachings, and in Cosmos Fire is affirmed as the manifestation of life. The substance of Fire is so radiant that it is impossible to define and describe it. The Cosmic Breath is the Fire of Space. All cosmic manifestations are permeated with Fire and human thought is Fire. Thought gives form; thought gives direction; thought gives life; thought imparts creativeness; thought imparts the attraction of a drawing magnet.” (Infinity I § 372)
Man – who is given a word, a direct expression of thought – has to learn the art of thinking and speaking in a harmonious relationship.
“Learn of the power of the spirit. Its strength is inexhaustible. A word is but a minute part. As the whirlwind is but the visible sign of turbulence, as the snow is but the messenger of the cold, as the lightning is but the eye of the storm, so is the word as a grain of dust blown by the impact of a creative thought. The source of thought shines into the eyes of those who see. And the chord of tension resounds into the sensitive ear.” (Leaves of Morya’s Garden I § 269)
How to use this power? The teaching of this approaching Age insists on the union of individual energies in group agreements and chords, and clarifies how the Union in harmonious and unidirectional assemblies simultaneously purifies and strengthens thought exponentially:
“When you are perplexed, sit together in silence and think one thought. Soon you will understand how practical such silent counsel is. We speed the power of the spirit along one channel, and this results in an unusual discharge, which is intensified by magnetism and harmonized by rhythm. The law is that two harmonious thoughts increase the power sevenfold. This is not magic but a practical consideration.” (Leaves of Morya’s Garden I § 269)
Much has been passed on by all the Masters about Thought, the emanation of Spirit and a creative agent, and it is easy to draw from these sources. Here, today, under the energetic rays of the First and Fifth qualities that Pluto and Venus jointly distribute, we can raise our eyes to Heaven and welcome their nourishment, according to the method of Silence.
“Silence may be teeming with voices and darkness may be suffused with light. Hence, he who regards Space as empty will not apprehend the mighty life manifested in silence as the highest Word of Cosmos, nor the invisible as the manifest Eye of Cosmos. The law of Cosmos is inviolable, and even man has accepted the Voice of Silence. Where speech is meager, the voice of the heart affirms silence. Cosmos in silence makes manifest the language of the heart, and the Cosmic Voice may become audible. Sensitiveness and vigilance can aid us in giving ear to the Voice of Silence. The beauty of Cosmos is manifested in silence. The beauty of silence is expressed in all the higher manifestations of life. Let us learn to harken to silence! The infinitude of Cosmos creates the manifestation of the Silence.” (Infinity I § 80)
“The transmission of thought is also a manifestation of Silence. We often use it. Before the consummation of the thought manifestation, We send the ray of Silence.” (Infinity I § 81)
“Let us look at the stars. We were told that the vessel of Wisdom poured its contents from out of Tushita, and the drops of the miraculous draft became aglow in space. But the Teacher said, ‘Thus glow the tips of the arrows of thought, because thought pierces the radiant substance and creates worlds.’ Creative thought, do not cease to adorn space with thy flowers of light!” (Agni Yoga § 122)
