Master DK announced the formation of a new Ashram (the so-called Ashram of Synthesis) during his 1946 Wesak Message:
I have delayed writing my usual Wesak message until this late date because of a certain event in the Hierarchy which was maturing and which necessitated my entire attention. This event was connected with the Wesak Festival and involved among other matters the formation of a new Ashram in which the Wisdom aspect would be of particular importance and not the Love aspect; this Ashram would also be related in a peculiar manner to the Buddha. It had to be formed at this time in order to be the recipient, and then the custodian, of certain “endowments” which the Buddha will bring at the time of the May Full Moon. The endowments concern the will-to-good of the Lord of the World, the Ancient of Days, though they do not concern goodwill as you understand that phrase. This Ashram, when duly formed and established, will enable the Members of the Hierarchy to respond to this aspect of the divine Purpose—the Purpose which as you know lies behind and implements the Plan; this Ashram, related to the Buddha, will be specifically under the close supervision of the Christ, and also of the Lord of Civilisation—at this time the Master R. They are the only two Members of the Hierarchy able to register the divine Purpose (in regard to its immediate objectives) in such a manner that the entire Hierarchy can be informed and can then work unitedly and intelligently at its implementation. More than this I may not tell you about this particular hierarchical move, affecting as it does both Shamballa and the Hierarchy. [1]
The Law of Synthesis
The Law of Synthesis governs the universal tendency for apparently separate parts to gravitate towards union and to seek an arrangement that leads to a state of synthesis.
The first of the cosmic laws is the Law of Synthesis. It is the law that demonstrates the fact that all things—abstract and concrete—exist as one; it is the law governing the thought form of that One of the cosmic Logoi in Whose consciousness both our system, and our greater centre, have a part. [2]
It must be remembered that synthesis is an aspect of the first divine characteristic, the Will, or rather, the Will-to-Good. This energy or influence, which the Christ Himself will wield (and for which He has been long preparing Himself), produces cohesion, a drawing together and a tendency to fusion and union. [3]
The Law of Synthesis directs cosmic motion towards synthesis, and ultimately, towards union with a synthesized whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. (1+1=3). The Law of Synthesis has many facets, one being its demonstration as spiritual liberation, a quality that seems most fitting for governing an ashram whose ray expression is the synthesis of Power, Wisdom and Order.
The Ashram of Synthesis includes disciples on Rays 1, 2 and 7. In addition to being a synthesis of these three rays, Master DK indicated that this new ashram’s Ray 2 quality was more along the Wisdom line than the Love line. The following definition of Wisdom describe this second ray wisdom quality: Love is response to contact and this—in the human being—means understanding, inclusiveness and identification. Wisdom connotes skill in action as the result of developed love and the light of understanding; it is awareness of requirements and ability to bring together into a fused relationship the need and that which will meet it. [4] Moreover, the wisdom aspect of Ray 2 is linked to Shamballa: Souls on the wisdom aspect of the second ray go to Shamballa and join the great Council in some capacity or another. [5] This new ashram, therefore, utilizes both Will and Wisdom to express the second ray in bringing together different forms and energies into a unified whole. Further, the transmuting Will emanating from Shamballa is applied to the organizing and transformative power of the 7th Ray to resolve chaos and bring about peace.
The synthesizing process that is being applied to the qualities inherent in the three Ashrams, determines the nature of the Ashram of Synthesis in terms of its synthesized presence, but also in terms of its global function as a synthesizing agent. The three ashrams stand at the three points of a triangle and are being subjected to a fiery circulatory force that concentrates and unites their emanations at a central point of synthesis. The transmitting devas are summoned and sound the note to engage the building devas in the work of manifestation. Thus is a unique and powerful ashram created, to play a most vital and imperative part in creating the focal point, structure, and dynamic force to bring about.
Writings of Lucille Cedercrans about the Ashram of Synthesis
Lucille Cedercrans has written extensively about the “Ashram of Synthesis.” These writings are based on communications attributed to Master R.
The Master M, the Lord of the first Ray, the Master DK, a senior disciple of the second Ray and myself, the Master R, Lord of the seventh Ray, bring these three energies into a focus, a triangular focus on ashramic levels and via a circulation of spiritual force within that triangle blend them into the new synthesis. [6]
As you realize, the new Ashram of Synthesis carries the responsibility not only of incarnating (so to speak) as a conscious Soul within the body of humanity, but of building the new forms of the new civilization which can and will adequately house that incarnate Soul and provide for its continuing growth and development. The Ashramic group life is constituted (if you will please excuse my terminology here) of three major “sections” insofar as its focus of attention is concerned.
These major sections which are determined by the three major Ashrams which have come together to create the new synthesis are:
1. That section which deals with Divine Purpose, Divine Power, Divine Will, and which is reflected outwardly, works out within the body of humanity as Government; works out within the group life as cooperative leadership—as each individual within the group follows his own overshadowing Spiritual Soul guidance, which is his governing agent, so to speak. The head center then of the group life is the Ashram.
2. The next section, the second section of the Ashramic group life, is that of the consciousness aspect, the Soul life of the group dealing primarily with the growth and development of the incarnate consciousness (incarnate on Ashramic levels within the causal sheath; incarnate below these levels within the threefold instrument). This section of the Ashram is reflected outwardly within the body of humanity primarily in the field of Education; within the group life, in the same field (that of teaching) as well as any other activity which deals specifically with the Soul life.
3. The third section of the Ashram is that of intelligent activity, the form building section of the Ashram which has to do with the building specifically of the new forms of the new civilization. This works out in the outer life and affairs of the group, and within the body of humanity in the field of Business.
To even approach an understanding of the synthesis, it is necessary for you to bring into your own consciousness as much as you already know of these three Rays and from that knowledge to move up in frequency to the Second Cosmic Ray of Divine Love Wisdom, or Pure Reason, of which these three are subsidiary. For it is only through an understanding, at least in part, of Pure Reason—to which these three are subsidiary—that the synthesis of them can be approached in understanding. [7]
Manifesting the structure and culture for the Reappearance of the Christ
The following reference illustrates the synthesizing contribution of the seventh ray to manifest the new culture:
This is the energy of Ceremonial Order. It is an expression of the will which drives through into outer manifestation; it is that which embodies both the periphery and the point at the centre. It is the will to “ritualistic synthesis,” if I might so word it. It is Necessity which is the prime conditioning factor of the divine nature—the necessity to express itself; the necessity to manifest in an orderly rhythmic manner; the necessity to embrace “that which is above and that which is below” and, through the medium of this activity, to produce beauty, order, perfect wholes and right relationships. [8]
Therefore, the Ashram of Synthesis expresses the ritualistic synthesis of the seventh ray to manifest a new civilization that brings spiritual principles into the daily life and affairs of every field of human endeavour.
Rays affect both human and deva evolutions.[9] In the case of the Ashram of Synthesis, devas are instrumental in building the forms needed to manifest the new culture. Master DK indicates that the Ashram’s emanations are meant to penetrate the lower sub-planes, and to exist physically.
The three ray energies that are being synthesized to create a new culture are the creative emanation of Great Lives. We recognize the presence and expression of three great cosmic beings who exist in a state of synthesis. The formation of the Ashram of Synthesis was indeed a major event in humanity’s ability to foster the manifestation of a new World Order.
The Ashram of Synthesis is a primary recipient of extra-planetary influences
There are extra-planetary forces that bring cosmic energies to support the work of the Hierarchy, in preparation for the Reappearance of the Christ and the manifestation of a new culture. One such great cosmic being is the Avatar of Synthesis.
The constructive work of the Avatar of Synthesis will be apparent to you in the name He is known by; He is coming to the Earth in order to further the manifestation of unity, of oneness and of inter-relation, and He comes, therefore, to wield and apply first ray energy. He will charge or galvanise the three groups—the directing Agents in Shamballa, the Nirmanakayas and the New Group of World Servers—with dynamic energy and, in a mysterious way, relate them to each other so that a new synthesis and alignment will be present upon the Earth. [10]
As a result of the work of this great Avatar, there will be significant changes to our planet. Master DK has described three of these giant leaps in the evolution of our planet:
Five Kingdoms in Nature will begin to function as one creative whole. Their work falls into the following parts, functions or activities:
a. The production of a human synthesis or unity which will lead to a universal recognition of the one humanity, brought about through right human relations.
b. The establishing of right relations with the subhuman kingdoms in nature, leading to the universal recognition that there is One World.
c. The anchoring of the Kingdom of God, the spiritual Hierarchy of our planet, in open expression on Earth, thus leading to the universal recognition that the sons of men are one. [11]
In addition to the contribution of the Avatar of Synthesis, there are influences and impulses originating from major constellations. Within this sum total of active, qualified energies, we have influences and impulses from the Great Bear, Sirius and the Pleiades. Their influence pours into the three major planetary centres: Shamballa, the Hierarchy and Humanity.
This tremendous energy enables the Ashram of Synthesis to build the new culture and fulfill its mission in manifesting the Plan. Master DK has provided very specific directives to the Ashram of Synthesis:
[…] understand clearly what is the task which must be undertaken in preparation for the Coming One. This entails four things:
- The effort to stand with all other disciples and aspirants in an attempt to call forth the Avatar, to reach Him by focussed intensive thought and to evoke His response. This is the purpose of the new Invocation. It voices intent, makes demand and pledges cooperation.
- The providing of a nucleus or group through which the Avatar of Synthesis can work when the lesser Avatar has come forth upon the physical plane. This involves individual activity, the sounding out of a clear note, based on clear mental perception, the recognition of those allied in the work and the development of conscious group work. In this group work the personality is subordinated and only the following determinations are dominant:
- The determination to offer group service—as a group—to the world group.
- The determination to establish right human relations upon the planet.
- The determination to develop everywhere the spirit of goodwill.
- The determination to withstand evil through planned group activity.
- To construct a network of light and service in every land. …. It is my specific plan to help mass world thought and thus evoke the Avatar, and likewise to provide a world group through which the new forces and energies can function, the new ideas can spread, and the coming world order find adherents.
- To prepare the general public for the Coming One. [12]
Since its creation in 1946, this “Ashram of Synthesis” has been facilitating the emergence of a new culture, while the Avatar of Synthesis has come forth to utilize the new forces and energies to build a new World Order. In 1976 David Spangler made us aware of the existence of a deva of the New Age, a great Life that “… embodies the blueprint of the ensouling energy of this new cycle. It enters to assist a greater life flow emerging from the divine image of the earth and the divine image of humanity to come together and to express in a particular synthesis at this time.” [13] The goal dual mission of the Avatar of Synthesis and of the Ashram of Synthesis is being accomplished.
A Prayer
Our Beloved, placed about our shoulders is the mantle of Love and upon us the crown of Truth and within us the Life which bears these things in perfection, in balance and in oneness with all that You are. We rejoice in this oneness with all the kingdoms of life and the expressions of Your Being and we seek to unite with them to form together a new heaven and a new earth. So be it. [14]
This is so wonderful and informative and inspiring! The work by the Ashram of Synthesis will help lay the groundwork for thinking along universal concepts which will explain the evolutionary process for humanity and our destiny on the planet in connection with the Whole.
And how interesting to find the quotes from David Spangler’s “Revelation”, a book that was dear to my heart many, many years ago. What goes around…
Thank you for this brilliant article at the time of the Capricorn New Moon. We have much opportunity to build into 6.3 the energies of the Ashram of Synthesis. Martha 2.5
