ONE*
If Aquarius presents and creates the Service for each calendar year, Pisces introduces the Savior, that is, the One who frees from the (beneficial) prison of form. He descends among the forms to save the Prisoners of the planet, and therein lies the value of His sacrifice. To this impulse corresponds its opposite, equally divine, which commands the life to assume a substantial vehicle.
On the one hand there is therefore the injunction to seek and build the form, on the other the offer and guarantee of salvation, which destroys it. In Pisces the dualism prepared by the intervention of Aquarius continuously works and tends to its pitfalls, but at the same time, as we have said, throws the networks of salvation.
TWO
Due to its continuous dualistic tension, in this sign whoever is a slave to forms understands Space as an insulator, a separator, as the cause of obstacles to the general communion, and therefore as an omnipresent jailer, which does not give way. On the other hand, those who have already freed themselves from forms, that is, have been “saved”, understand it in its reality as a conductor of energies, provident of innumerable contacts, a sovereign field for every relationship and a revelator of the essential unity.
The same magnetic power (Space) in the first case imprisons, in the second frees and saves.
At first, the prison looks like a home, a welcoming and protective abode, and the freedom of contact seems a dangerous illusion; then the latter is recognized as real and what seemed to be a home shows itself with the aspects of a prison, though the result of an insubstantial spell.
*
For these opposing reasons, Space, which is the magnetic power of the second Ray, is dominant in Pisces. The water of life dispensed by Aquarius is here the stormy or placid sea which welcomes and keeps within itself all creatures; it imprisons them, of course, yet nourishing and preparing them for boundless freedom.
THREE
The vertical, alternating motion, impressed by Capricorn, and that which is oscillating, due to Aquarius, combine with each other and produce a third motion, of a nature so general and free to simply be called “mobility”. It operates in all directions, but especially along the axes of the intermediate cross, and due to the dualism mentioned above this last cross is twofold, both mobile and fixed.
It is mobile when the consciousness that is affixed to it is deluded because it is still immature; it is fixed when, now expert and conscious of itself, it leaves the open sea and stabilizes itself in the dry light of the Sun. Such a passage, from the condition of mobility, of dragged and impotent victim, to stability, mastery and strength is precisely the great project that is elaborated in this sign, in which everything that appears new is eternally old, and eternal realities always remain new.
FOUR
Immersed in the restless sea, the creatures are at the mercy of the waves, which lift them up to then overwhelm them, in a way that is always varied and incessant. The symbol of the storm and calm occurring at this stage of the great life describes the condition of conflict that drags consciousness here and there, without real rest and always in search of stillness.
It is an admirable field of experience, the best to learn that firmness which is found and is established only on the middle way, where opposites are equalized and waves settle down. Then the castaway “forth issues from the sea upon the shore.”
Harmony, a great science of life, is learned by living in conflict, and later reveals itself as the golden rule of freedom and peace.
FIVE
It is rightly said that all forms are born or were born in water. This means that water has within it that dualistic power without which nothing can assume appearance, whether subtle or dense. When space is lived as a prison, the fifth divine quality fills it with signs, each of which is a prison for life: it writes on water.
This process leads to distinguishing between me and you; between the I and the world; to admit therefore limits and separations. In short, all that is perceptible is born because the spatial waters are magnetic and respond to two poles.
SIX
Prison, be it the planetary environment, the solar system or the entire universe, is a sign of community: it gathers all the prisoners into a single category, putting them to grips with a common fundamental problem. At the same time, it is also a sign of freedom, as it stimulates, and yet leaves each free to apply to the issue and solve it in its own way.
It could therefore be said that Space is the free community in which the common freedom is realized.
When all the things written on the water by the fifth energy have been deciphered and learned as values, what else remains to be done? Pisces is considered, in fact, as a sign of salvation and fulfillment.
*
The severe, ultimate, lesson lived and learned in Pisces shows the great power exercised here by the sixth Ray.
SEVEN
The two fishes used as an astrological symbol of this sign are bound together by the seventh energy, which keeps them captivated enough as they both understand they are free. In the world of forms, the creatures and consciences are linked to each other two by two. It has already been said, and here we see it in symbol. It could not be otherwise, being immersed in a bipolar magnetic sea.
In truth, that constraint, which at first and for a long time is illusorily interpreted as a hindrance, is the guarantee of final salvation, since in Pisces the seventh quality works (as always) to eliminate boundaries and all their bonds.
