Jupiter enters Leo

According to esoteric teaching, the path that leads Humanity from a state of ‘minority’ to the full expression of its essence is traversed by moving from an instinctive ‘mass consciousness’ (typical of Cancer) to an intelligent, albeit individual, awareness (typical of Leo), culminating in intuitive group consciousness (which defines Aquarius).

As stated in the Teaching, “you will have, in the early stages of human evolution, that which we might call the atomic stage, in which man comes to a gradual recognition that he is a self-conscious unit, with an individuality all his own. (…) Then, as life goes on, the man passes out of the atomic stage to a higher and a better one, when he becomes cognisant of his group relationships, when he becomes aware that he has group responsibilities, and that he has functions to work out with other separate atoms. The group consciousness begins to make itself felt. Thus the human atom finds its place within the group, the larger unit to which it belongs, and the love aspect begins to show itself. The man has passed out of the atomic stage into that of group coherence. Later comes the stage when the man begins to realise that he has not only responsibilities to the group, but that there is something greater still. He realises that he is a part of a great universal life which underlies all groups, that he is not just a universal atom, that he is not just part of a group, but that, after merging his identity with the group—although never losing it—the group itself has to be blended again with the consciousness of that great Identity Who is the synthesis of them all. Thus he arrives at the final stage of intelligent appreciation of divine unity.” (A. A. Bailey – The Consciousness of the Atom, p. 88-89)

As world events clearly show, we are in a time of transition; the Age of Aquarius is advancing with great force whilst the Age of Pisces is fading away.
Pluto, the esoteric and hierarchical Ruler of the Sign of Pisces, through the power of the 1st Ray, of which he is the vehicle, relentlessly governs these times in which every previous certainty is shattered, every exhausted superstructure dissolves, and consciousnesses seem no longer to respond to any law.
His passage into Aquarius (1) marks the change underway and clearly reveals the dichotomy between consciousnesses still deeply entangled in the bonds of matter and those wisely and willfully oriented towards the light of the Common Good.
Year after year, Jupiter, the Master of Love, guardian of the solar Heart, marks these steps in consciousness by connecting each individual with the energy that the zodiacal Signs in turn pour into space.
Today, from a heliocentric perspective, Jupiter leaves the nurturing and constructive maternal waters of Cancer and crosses the threshold of Leo, where the Sun, as the triple Ruler of the Sign (2), welcomes Him into its fiery embrace.

A little thought will make it apparent to you why the Sun is the ruler of all the three conditions of Leo—exoteric, esoteric and hierarchical. It is a correct surmise that the purpose of this solar system is the unfoldment of consciousness, and if for the strictly human being self-consciousness is the goal, then the Sun must obviously rule, for it is the source of physical consciousness (exoteric and symbolic of the personality), of soul awareness (esoteric), and of spiritual life (hierarchical).” (A. A. Bailey – Esoteric Astrology, p. 294)

Leo – as the Tibetan Master reminds us, it is the – the “birthplace of the individual”, the coming into form of individual self-conscious man who emerges out of the mass and herd in Cancer, substituting, for instinctual consciousness, self-awareness and a sense of responsibility of an individual kind.” (Ibid., p. 102)
“In Leo—The self-centred man becomes eventually the soul in life expression and focussed on the achievement of the spiritual goal of selflessness.(Ibid., p. 143)

Jupiter and the Sun are united by the magnetic and all-encompassing energy of the 2nd Ray, which gradually shapes all consciousnesses so that the keynote of this solar System may resonate within them, and so that it may finally be proclaimed with a full voice “… the mark of Love, the victorious!”. (AUM § 201)
Let us not forget, in fact, that according to the Teaching, “Leo is the focal point for the expression of the second aspect [of the divine Trinity], the love-wisdom or consciousness aspect. This, primarily where humanity is concerned.” (A. A. Bailey – Esoteric Astrology, p. 194)
The energy of Jupiter in Leo penetrates deep into every consciousness, awakening understanding and courage, benevolence and majesty. Its enveloping wave lovingly urges the consciousness to free itself from the narrow, self-centred view that has hitherto confined it within the prison of separateness, and ultimately leads it to understand the centrality of the heart—understood as a radiant, warm and shining Sun—which illuminates one’s life and enables one to find one’s ‘regal’ task within the eternal flow of Life.

“Once again we are faced with a series of threatening events. Again I remind you about the Lion Heart. I am not speaking about failures, because grave events are pregnant with many consequences. Be not amazed at the tension and at special alternating waves. One must know the manifestation of derangement of rhythm. Wherever all is well let us not have to reiterate that you hold fast to Me as the only support. Execute My Decree in the most precise manner; precision is essential, for small clefts are very dangerous. One must hold out with the Lion Heart. Let us not think that the enemies are weak, for they are strong; yet I am not speaking to distress you, but only in order to affirm the Lion Heart.” (Fiery World I § 169)

Still in the light of the 2nd Ray, we find another significant energetic correspondence that leads the human being, and Humanity as a whole, to transcend a narrow, self-centred view of action, knowledge and being, placing it in relation to the entire planet and its evolutionary needs.
Leo and Aquarius, through the Sun and Jupiter, are related to Ray 2. Development of the individual consciousness into world consciousness. Thus a man becomes a world server.” (A. A. Bailey – Esoteric Astrology, p. 67)
Service to Humanity thus appears as a fundamental milestone on the human journey, an accomplishment that dedicates the consciousness—now mature and free from the heresy of separateness—to working for the common Good, the radiant horizon of the coming Age of Aquarius.

The low grade and undeveloped Aquarian upon the Mutable Cross manifests through a superficial self-awareness. This matures in Leo and becomes a deep-seated self-consciousness and a profound interest in self and its need and wishes. As the interplay goes on between Leo and Aquarius (for they are polar opposites) there comes a deepening of all qualities and the superficialities disappear until—upon the reversed wheel—the intensive self-consciousness of Leo expands into the group awareness of Aquarius. The individual becomes the universal.

Man, alone and separative, becomes mankind in his reactions and awareness and yet, at the same time, preserves his individuality; he is no longer just a human being, individually self-centred and separative, but becomes humanity itself, losing his personal identity in the good of the whole yet retaining his spiritual Identity. From self-service, he proceeds to world service and yet is always the individualised Son of God until after the third initiation.” (Ibid., p. 135-6)

And it is once again the Leo–Aquarius zodiacal axis that provides us with another important symbol of the path of the evolution of consciousness.
We can indeed imagine this axis as the backbone (or as the antahkarana bridge) of the renewal visible in the Heavens, brought about by the energies radiated by the Luminaries in this stretch of the century; let us recall once more the presence of Pluto in Aquarius, an inexhaustible source of change and profound regeneration, the powerful conjunction (3) between Saturn and Neptune at the beginning of Aries, an impetuous source of the new that infuses initiatory Light and Communion into every consciousness, and the presence of Uranus in Gemini (4), capable of synthesising the ordering power of its rays with the magnetic force of Love with which the Sign is innervated.
Through these powerful energetic influences, receptive Humanity will be able to continue the constant refinement of its consciousness; by placing this at the service of the common Good of all humankind and the lower Kingdoms, it will enable the reconstruction of the human and planetary temple, now in ruins, whilst at the same time allowing the emergence of new ideals and a New Culture and Civilisation.

Leo’s power, therefore, becomes that North Star (5)—both individual and planetary—which enables us to turn, in full consciousness and by virtue of the alignment achieved, towards the source from which all things have emanated.
The brightest star in the constellation of Leo, Regulus, represents the Heart of the Lion, as well as the celestial Lawgiver; it indicates the correct orientation, the legitimate path, the way that leads to the One; finally, it urges us to develop that higher awareness capable of ascending and immersing itself in the divine will, radiating into our consciousness a new dose of universal Love, of cosmic Law or Necessity.
To crown this union between Jupiter and Leo, let us recall that over the next few days (12 and 13 May) Mercury, the winged Muse-guide, is surrounded by the asteroids (6) Euterpe, Urania and Calliope in the fertile and luminous waters of Taurus, where their dances of Beauty intertwine with the fiery power of Vulcan, the esoteric Ruler of the Sign, tracing a path of purifying light through space.
The sacred and solemn song of the Muses thus accompanies the entry of the Lord of Love into the substance of Leo and reminds every consciousness to lend ‘the ear of the heart’ to the new that advances beyond all appearances.

“Glory to the all-embracing heart.”
(Supermundane I § 8)

1. From a heliocentric perspective, Pluto’s entry into Aquarius took place on 23 January 2024.
2. With regard to the triple Regency of the Sun in Leo, the Tibetan Master explains as follows “… the Sun veils certain hidden planets, and in the case of Leo, the two planets through which the Sun focusses its energy or influences (like a lens) are Neptune and Uranus. The “heart of the Sun” employs Neptune as its agent, whilst the central, spiritual Sun pours its influences through Uranus. (…) Hence the triple relation of the Sun to Leo which is unique in our solar system, and hence the importance of the triangle which controls the man born under Leo—the Sun, Uranus and Neptune. The energy of Leo is focussed through the Sun, and is distributed to our planet via the Sun and the two planets which it veils.” (A. A. Bailey, Esoteric Astrology, p. 296-7)
3. From a heliocentric perspective, the Saturn-Neptune conjunction at 1° Aries took place on 11 December 2025; from a geocentric perspective, the conjunction began to be effective in the spring of 2025 (Neptune entered Aries in March 2025, followed by Saturn in May). Due to the retrograde phases of the two Planets, the conjunction continued until its peak (20 February 2026), after which the separation phase of the two Planets began.
4. From a heliocentric perspective, Uranus entered Gemini on 9 January 2026, whilst from a geocentric perspective, it definitively entered the Sign on 27 April 2026.
5. According to esoteric Teaching, the Sign of Leo is primarily linked to the North Star (in the constellation of Ursa Minor) and to Sirius (in the constellation of Canis Major). It should be noted that the marking of Regulus in the heavens indicates the path of Life: the straight line that runs from the North Star (a guiding and re-orienting Star) through the pointer stars of the Big Dipper, Dubhe and Merak (another guiding Star), reaching as far as Leo, identifiable by the famous sickle formed by the stars of the mane, all the way to Regulus, its brightest star. Furthermore, Leo is governed ‘in a cosmic sense and independently of the solar system’ by Sirius, the Magnet, the Fire that distributes cosmic Love, the cosmic Heart and primary Ego of our solar Logos. “The influences of Sirius, three in number, are focussed in Regulus, which is, as you know, a star of the first magnitude and which is frequently called ‘the heart of the Lion’.” (A. A. Bailey, Esoteric Astrology, p. 300)
6. It is worth noting that the names of these asteroids are derived from the names of the Muses, the Olympian deities born of Zeus and Mnemosyne. Mercury, Lord of Harmony and Intuition, thus joins forces with principles such as the Power of the Heavens (Urania), the Light of Sound (Euterpe) and the Power of Thought (Calliope).
