Impulses

Early 15c., “an act of impelling, a thrust, push,” from Latin impulsus “a push against, pressure, shock,” also “incitement, instigation, impulse,” pp. of impellere (see impel) (source: www.etymonline.com).

Latin impellere is composed by in, expressing the idea of ​motion towards, and pellere, pushing, hitting, plucking the strings (musical instrument), to play.

From Indo-European root *PAL-/*PEL- which expresses the idea of shaking, moving with vibration. It is the same root as “appeal” (as those who are called or recalled are shaken).

Etymosophy result: vibrant pushing.
