Symmetrically to the full moon of Capricorn (December 2020), today we celebrate the full moon of Cancer (h: 6.41 pm UT), the Sign of the Moon guardian of the solstitial valley, the Gate of men that is in front of the Summit of Capricorn, the high Gate of the gods.
In this liturgical and solemn year, the seventh of the fifth seven-year period, we intend to celebrate the Full Moons as dates or directions of connection with the supreme stellar sources, rulers of our local universe, our cosmic Abode, the Entity in which “we live, move and have our being”.
To nourish this inner, rhythmic and powerful rite, we present at each ‘celestial appointment’ some extracts from the text The Order of Orion, “an astrosophical investigation of the solar and cosmic essence of humanity” (only available in Italian at the moment), to trace the possible infinite paths between the Moon and the One.
Today, in front of the Eagle Bird of the Spirit associated with the Summits of Capricorn, it is the turn of the Unicorn, constellation at the center of the ‘winter’ Triangle of the Northern Sky, the sacred horse, associated in Esoteric Astrology to the 10th Zodiac Sign of Capricorn as a splendid living symbol of direct knowledge, of the initiatory level beyond the ego-centered power of Leo (5th Sign):
“… the Unicorn which is the “fighting and triumphant creature” of the ancient myths … the triumphant initiate, the “unicorn of God,” the symbol of the unicorn, with its one horn out-thrust like a single spear upon his brow instead of the two horns of the scavenging goat.
… Capricorn, the Goat, related particularly and closely to Aries, but hiding (as an esoteric blind) the symbolism of the Unicorn in which the two horns and the single eye are blended and depicted by the long straight horn of the unicorn in the centre of the forehead.
… The Mystery of the Lion and the Unicorn. This secret is preserved for us in the ancient nursery rhyme about the “lion and the unicorn going up to town,” and contains in a peculiar way the secret of initiation and the “going up” of the human being to the portal of admittance into the Hierarchy as well as the “mystic raising” of which Masonry holds the key. This deals with the emergence of the consciousness of the initiate (white and one-pointed) and the defeat of the king of beasts (the personality) leading to the triumph of group and world consciousness, of selflessness and illumination over self-consciousness and selfishness. In the true rendition of this ancient myth the king of beasts is blinded and killed by the piercing of his eye and heart by the long horn of the unicorn.” (p. 153-5)
The single horn, the quintessence of all two or more horned forces, symbol of divine powers, is that intuitive penetration or purity of Reason through which the initiate radiates the supernal Light into the Valley, the Ocean of Substance of Cancer, and “builds an illuminated House”: a consciousness and mind steady in the Light, as well as communities or collective Individualities organized and united as “archipelagos of light”.
Celebrating the Unicorn at the full moon of Cancer, a Sign associated with the intuition that brings light into the deep matrix of Reality, and ‘now’ the guardian of the Solstitial Valley at the galactic anticenter, engraves a path to the cosmic Mind [1], which leads to the center of Reality, to the Beauty of Being, as it frees from any dualism and attachment to Form.
