Restoration of the Mysteries

The Restoration of the Mysteries is the first Goal of the Plan for Humanity, intuited and formalised in 1990 by an enlightened thinker, E. Savoini, who ordered in a Pythagorean Lambdoma of numerical and sound intervals the indications given by the Tibetan Master regarding the work of the Hierarchy which has, among its tasks, as we are told, that of elaborating and updating the planetary Plan for Humanity. This action was a response to the Master, a candidacy for a possible collaboration with the Hierarchy and a commitment to constantly look at the Mystery hidden in things and events.

Restoring the Mysteries means reactivating their inner fire, which is never extinguished but cyclically fades, remaining quiescent, waiting, under the ashes.

The Mysteries were entrusted to Humanity in the mists of time and have always been the driving force of the evolution of the human species. They are impressed on the consciousnesses of races and civilisations and mark their rise and decline. We are told by the Teachings that, in the coming age of Aquarius, it will be the Christ who will rekindle their fire, but it is up to men of good will and to the disciples to provide the material that will serve to reignite them.

So let’s briefly summarise what has already been written in these pages regarding the Mysteries and their Restoration, trying to better clarify their meaning.

The Mysteries can be defined as a ‘source of revelation’. They are hidden as they are protected by their own light and are progressively revealed to the eye of those who are able to handle their power. They are therefore a revelation that can only occur when in the man who has undertaken the path of discipleship, the mind and the will to good are intimately united and fused, and affect his conduct so that he can understand their significance without danger.

The Mysteries are revealed not primarily by the reception of information anent them and their processes, but by the action of certain processes, carried out within the etheric body of the disciple; these enable him to know that which is hidden; they put him in possession of a mechanism of revelation and make him aware of certain radiatory and magnetic powers or energies within himself which constitute channels of activity and modes whereby he may acquire that which it is the privilege of the initiate to own and to use. In essence, the Mysteries become understandable and evident to the disciple as he travels the long path of initiation. At each stage of evolution he is able to penetrate a little more into the intrinsic meaning of things and to understand the great truths of the Universe. Nothing is hidden and no Mystery changes. The one who changes is the observer who gradually becomes able to understand and see details that he could not before. It might resemble an optical game, like when you stare at a drawing and only by changing your perspective of observation, and with the right inclination, you can perceive the shape hidden there.

The great Mysteries, sacred to humanity, are obviously not mere optical illusions and it is not enough to recognise them to make them your own. They require constant dedication, since it should not be forgotten that Culture and civilisation are also originated and promoted by them and when these are poor and confused, it is a sign that the flame that feeds these great principles is smoldering. In those moments the link between Heaven and Earth is weakened, and the energy that animates the hearts is scarce. But then the time for restoration comes, the fire is revived, culture flows and pulsates, and civilization reorganises social existence.

“The Mysteries are externally present and act in any growing human culture. They propel it and direct it to its culmination; then, they slowly withdraw into the unmanifest”.

The appearance and disappearance of the Mysteries mark the development and decay of a culture, and leave evident reflections in the conditions of the civilisation that accompanies it. From the examination of the state of the latter, the presence or absence of the former can be inferred.

If studied in this way, the situation of today’s civilisation shows that the Mysteries have long since withdrawn from its central life: the culture is corrupt and the norms of civilisation are disintegrating. The Order has withdrawn from it.

In fact, the following should be noted about the Mysteries:

  1. When active, they take on appearances, rituals and rhythms suited to the people and the time, so as to best serve both. Despite the formal differences, they fall into seven categories, each divided into seven degrees of initiation.
  2. They are authentic when they have the strength to transmit the real (and not just virtual) initiation. This sign reveals the true from the false.
  3. They serve a double purpose: they raise deserving and ready consciousnesses, giving them continuity and power; and with this they affirm more vibrant human centres that have a beneficial effect on the whole of society and the environment. These exalted centres renew the energies in circulation and elevate the general quality of culture and therefore the level of civilisation, which is its formal consequence. Any degree of real initiation is always obtained at the cost of a sacrifice, and this is the real power that moves history along its channels according to cycles, plans and deadlines, all of them anticipated but without ever compromising the freedom of anyone.

The result of the presence of the Mysteries is the establishment of a comprehensive and powerful Order among consciousnesses. It is manifested in complex mental structures that guide and affect all activities for a considerable number of human generations.

The examination of the order is a diagnostic of the health of consciousness, as is the examination of its opposite, that is, the evaluation of the state of confusion and disorder, which serves the same purpose and leads to equal conclusions. This is not as trivial and obvious as it seems, because if the Order can be forgotten to the point that it does not even exist in the consciousness of peoples, the disorder is always evident.

There are seven categories of Mysteries, each governed by a Ray, which may or may not be all manifest and active: this depends on extra-planetary factors. They are externalised according to their own rhythms, but in any case they condition the culture where they settle, which then shows the characteristics of one or the other of the Rays. It is not difficult to ascertain the specific qualities of the various cultures and civilisations of the past, some of which were mainly artistic, others religious, ritual or political. Although there are seven categories, their origin is always only one, since the One is the Mystery and remains inviolate. Their presence acts first in the individual man, then, through him, it spreads throughout society. They secretly reappear in one heart, from which they overflow into many others.

The Mysteries are also connected to the zodiacal signs that govern the various terrestrial eras, that is the cycles of about 2,160 years during which, due to the precession of the equinoxes, a different constellation rises to the planetary horizon at the spring equinox, imparting the power of its own Rays, concentrated and represented in their symbol, in the consciousnesses of the creatures of the planet and in the civilisations that derive from them.

The Mysteries are inseparable from the Will, that is, from Power. They confer power because they teach how to use the Will. The disciple can penetrate its meaning as he walks along the path of initiation: The crossing of the Threshold is accomplished through an act of one’s own Will, not because dragged by a benevolent superior force. On that border, forces are sublimated into energies, and this implies the abandonment of desire as a driving force, replaced by free responsible will.

It can be only when the mind and the will-to-good are closely blended and conditioning human behaviour that the extent of the coming revelation will be grasped, for only then can humanity be trusted with these secrets. They concern those capacities which enable the disciple on the path to work consciously with the energies of the planet and of the solar system and to control forces within the planet; they will put the ordinary psychic powers in their rightful place and guide man towards their helpful usage.

We now live in a time when the need to rekindle this fire becomes more and more urgent and necessary, as the new Aquarian Culture/Civilisation is settling on Earth.

All men of good will who work for the Common Good are committed to bringing the ‘right material’ so that the flame can burn again, waiting for the intervention of the great Lord, the Christ.

Once restored, the Mysteries will powerfully radiate evolutionary energies through the Planetary Plan, in order to allow Humanity to advance towards the initiation for which it is destined. They will also restore colour and music to their original place and function and make real the nature of religion, the purpose of science and the goal of education.

The Mysteries express the higher Will,
give freedom and create culture:

they are indispensable to human progress.

This article comes out in conjunction with the annual alignment between Sun/Vulcan-Earth-Pluto, the ‘non-sacred’ Luminary of the First Ray that, in the microcosm of Man, conveys the self-will, destined to transform itself into the will of the higher Self (Vulcan) to restore and precipitate the energy of planetary Purpose.

One Response to Restoration of the Mysteries

Quite a wonderful paper! The Age of Aquarius – “…the age of synthesis, of inclusiveness and of understanding is upon us, and the new education of the Aquarian Age must begin very gently to penetrate the human aura.” Education in the New Age, p. 3 (Alice A. Bailey)

Agni Yoga (1929) – 158: (Agni Yoga Collection)
All preceding Yogas, given from the highest Sources, took as their basis a particular aspect of life. Now, at the dawn of the age of Maitreya, there is needed a Yoga comprising the essence of the whole of life, all-embracing, evading nought. One remembers the example of those unignitible youths in the biblical legend who valiantly sacrificed themselves to the fiery furnace and thereby acquired power.

Agni Yoga (1929) – 193: (Agni Yoga Collection)

    Agni Yoga (1929) – 101:
“Wisdom in all,” recalls the Hindu. “Cooperation in all” will be added to this in the Age of Maitreya. Not only by command, not just by harmony, but by the lightning-bolt of directed thought are the co-workers united.
