From the Lambdoma of the Genesis of Ideas:
5.6 REVELATION – Revelation is the gradual realization of Unity
6.5 EXISTENCE – Existence is the substance of Reality
This Polarity of Ideas expresses and realizes the primary relationship between:
5.5 MANIFESTATION – The Manifestation is
the emergence of the divine Design
and
6.6 SYNTHESIS – Synthesis is the triumph of the One
At the level of abstract or fiery Thought, the attempt to understand and live the quadripartite relationship between Manifestation, Synthesis, Revelation and Existence is analogous to a squaring of the circle, at the centre between the World of Ideas (circle) and that of Forms (square).
Ideas are real Energies and living Entities, they are the powers that produce precipitates, and directing our contemplation and reflection to these Sources of events and things raises our vibration and perspective on existence.
“Life is comprised of an eternal succession of ideas and of manifestations of cosmic energies. How can a spirit who does not project his thought into the realm of ideas adopt the concept of Infinity! When thought will take on the significance of something vital and realizable, it will reveal to man where is joy and where is truth.” (Agni Yoga Series – Infinity I § 96)
The Synthesis celebrates the unity of the Manifestation, Revealing Itself through Existence.
All Existence, the substance of Reality and Manifestation, is therefore the symbol of the Life contained in it and tends incessantly to its Revelation, to the gradual realization of Unity in diversity, to Synthesis: the triumph of the One.
Here are some passages from the Teaching to stimulate and foster our understanding:
“It is right to assume that the revelation of one secret does not lessen the importance of the succeeding one. It has been said that each revealed secret is only the gateway to the next one. But it has likewise been said that each secret is thus encircled by a higher wall, the approaches to which are successively more difficult. Let those who fear know at once the difficulties in store. They should not be enticed by the thought of easy attainment. Once the choice is made, the strong in spirit will come to love the difficult path, for how otherwise will they test themselves? It is a great mistake to think that all inventions are only to make life pleasant. Each discovery provides only a little window into Infinity, and one glance will determine the nature of a man. […]” (Agni Yoga Series – AUM § 522)
“The entire objective of the initiation preparatory process is to bring about revelation. You must ever bear in mind that that which is revealed is eternally present. There is, therefore, occult truth in the statement that there is ‘nothing new under the sun’. All that is revealed upon the Path of Discipleship and of Initiation is forever there, but that which can perceive, reach out and include has developed with the ages. Upon the Path of Discipleship, in the earlier stages, the eye of vision is the illumined mind. Upon the Path of Initiation it is that of which the eye of the mind is the exteriorisation—the intuitional perception of the soul itself.” (Alice A. Bailey – Discipleship in the New Age II, p. 252)
“Yet behind all the successive revelations of divinity down the ages is to be found one significant purpose; all of them are and will prove themselves to be aspects of the Great Revelation. It is through the processes of revelation that divinity is slowly dawning upon the human consciousness. (Alice A. Bailey – Rays and the Initiations, p. 241)
“[…] The objective of the evolutionary process to which all lives on our planet have to submit has been to develop this sensitivity which will make revelation possible, and it might be said that (from one definite angle) the goal of all experience has been revelation—each revelation ‘carrying the initiate closer to the Heart of the Sun wherein all things are known and felt, and through which all forms, all beings and all things can be bathed in love’.” (Alice A. Bailey – Rays and the Initiations, p. 727-728)
“In our Solar world, the One Existence is Heaven and the Earth, the Root and the flower, the Action and the Thought. It is in the Sun, and is as present in the glow-worm. Not an atom can escape it. Therefore, the ancient Sages have wisely called it the manifested God in Nature.” (Helena P. Blavatsky, The Secret Doctrine. Cosmogenesis)
“This ‘Treatise on Cosmic Fire’ has a fivefold purpose in view: […] Thirdly, to show the coherent development of all that is found within a solar system; to demonstrate that everything which exists evolves (from the lowest form of life at the densest point of concretion up to the highest and most tenuous manifestation) and that all forms are but the expression of a stupendous and divine Existence. This expression is caused by the blending of two divine aspects through the influence of a third, and produces the manifestation which we call a form, starting it upon its evolutionary cycle in time and space. Thus is form brought to the point where it is an adequate medium for the demonstration of the nature of that which we call God.” (Alice A. Bailey, A Treatise on Cosmic Fire – Foreword, p. XII)
“Nothing is permanent except the one hidden absolute existence which contains in itself the noumena of all realities. The existences belonging to every plane of being, up to the highest Dhyan-Chohans, are, in degree, of the nature of shadows cast by a magic lantern on a colourless screen; but all things are relatively real, for the cogniser is also a reflection, and the things cognised are therefore as real to him as himself. Whatever reality things possess must be looked for in them before or after they have passed like a flash through the material world; but we cannot cognise any such existence directly, so long as we have sense-instruments which bring only material existence into the field of our consciousness. Whatever plane our consciousness may be acting in, both we and the things belonging to that plane are, for the time being, our only realities. As we rise in the scale of development we perceive that during the stages through which we have passed we mistook shadows for realities, and the upward progress of the Ego is a series of progressive awakenings, each advance bringing with it the idea that now, at last, we have reached ‘reality’; but only when we shall have reached the absolute Consciousness, and blended our own with it, shall we be free from the delusions produced by Maya.” (Helena P. Blavatsky, The Secret Doctrine. Cosmogenesis)
“Right through the later periods of the cycle of incarnation wherein the man is juggling with the pairs of opposites, and through discrimination is becoming aware of reality and unreality, there is growing up in his mind a realisation that he himself is an immortal Existence, an eternal God, and a portion of Infinity. Ever the link between the man on the physical plane and this inner Ruler becomes clearer until the great revelation is made. Then comes a moment in his existence when the man stands consciously face to face with his real Self and knows himself to be that Self in reality and not just theoretically; he becomes aware of the God within…” (Alice A. Bailey – Initiation, Human and Solar, p. 113)
Existence is the fruit of Manifestation,
Synthesis reveals its divine Design.
