Intuition and the Art of the new Civilisation

In these pages we understand Art as an expression of the Beauty of the World of Ideas, those Principles or potencies that produce precipitation, the Causes of all Forms and phenomenal events.

Real Art is therefore the one created by intuition and higher inspiration. Here are some passages that clarify the nature of these abilities or buddhic (spiritual) qualities that await to be manifested by ever larger groups of enlightened Hearts or minds, and which will produce among their main accomplishments, in the next centuries, the vision of Beauty and the new Art:

“It is superfluous to speak of the meaning of striving to the Higher World to poets, musicians, artists, sculptors, and singers, because their expression of beauty is founded on inspiration. Who, then, can define the boundary between inspiration and Hiero-inspiration? Such a boundary line between inspirations is undefinable. Each inspiration contains some particle of Hiero-inspiration. Only the heart itself can determine the degree of its exaltation. The true participant of beauty can sense the Guiding Principle brooding above earthly expression. Therefore, there is no need to convince the servitors of beauty of its lofty heights. He is no sower in the field of creation who feels no tremor in the realization that he creates beauty.” (Agni Yoga Series, Aum § 300)

“DEFINITION OF THE INTUITION

The intuition is not a welling forth of love to people and, therefore, an understanding of them. Much that is called the intuition is recognition of similarities and the possession of a clear analytical mind. Intelligent people who have lived in the world for some time and who have experienced much and who have contacted many other people can usually sum up with facility the problems and dispositions of others, provided they are interested. This they must not, however, confound with the intuition. The intuition has no relation to psychism, either higher or lower; the seeing of a vision, the hearing of the Voice of the Silence, a pleased reaction to teaching of any kind does not infer the functioning of the intuition. It is not only the seeing of symbols, for that is a special sort of perception and the capacity to tune in on the Universal Mind upon that layer of Its activity which produces the pattern-forms on which all etheric bodies are based. It is not intelligent psychology, and a loving desire to help. That emanates from the interplay of a personality, governed by a strong soul orientation, and the group-conscious soul.

Intuition is the synthetic understanding which is the prerogative of the soul and it only becomes possible when the soul, on its own level, is reaching in two directions: towards the Monad, and towards the integrated and, perhaps (even if only temporarily) coordinated and at-oned personality. It is the first indication of a deeply subjective unification which will find its consummation at the third initiation. Intuition is a comprehensive grip of the principle of universality, and when it is functioning there is, momentarily at least, a complete loss of the sense of separateness. At its highest point, it is known as that Universal Love which has no relation to sentiment or to the affectional reaction but is, predominantly, in the nature of an identification with all beings. Then is true compassion known; then does criticism become impossible; then, only, is the divine germ seen as latent in all forms. Intuition is light itself, and when it is functioning, the world is seen as light and the light bodies of all forms become gradually apparent”. (Alice A. Bailey, Glamour: A World Problem – p. 3)

“Straight-knowledge was formerly called intuition. Straight-knowledge is built out of accumulations from past lives and is preserved in the Chalice. Indeed, it is not just knowledge, but straight-knowledge, because all knowledge gained by us is based primarily on feeling. It is especially strongly expressed in all transcendental experiences. Straight-knowledge is awakened together with the intensification of the action of psychic energy. … everything is interwoven in a mutual collaboration, and everything is interdependent”. (Helena Roerich, Letters: 1935-1939. Vol. II – p. 180-181)

“The intuition or pure reason is the faculty which enables man to enter into contact with the Universal Mind and grasp the plan synthetically, to seize upon divine Ideas or isolate some fundamental and pure truth”. (Alice A. Bailey, A Treatise on White Magic – p. 365)

“The intuition is literally the synthetic and immediate grasp of the truth, as it essentially exists, and the Lord of the second ray will bring to a conclusion the entire evolutionary process through the development in humanity of that perfect insight which will make every human being a complete and intelligent cooperator with the Plan”. (Alice A. Bailey, Esoteric Psychology volume I – p. 134)

“Summon the courage to safeguard the mysteries. Comprehend the great gift of love to the One God. Try to unfold the power of insight, that you may perceive the future unity of mankind. The one salvation is to turn the spirit toward the light of Truth”. (Agni Yoga Series – Leaves of Morya’s Garden I § 2)

Not beauty, but the realization of beauty will save the world!

Dedicated to the Artists of the new Era:

“The spiritual man seeks for the furthering of the plan and to identify himself with the divine mind in nature. Withdrawing to the midway spot, he endeavours to realize his divinity and then, having done so, he focusses himself in his mental form which puts him en rapport with the Universal Mind. He endures limitation so that thereby he may know and serve. He seeks to reach the hearts of men and to carry to them “inspiration” from the depths of the heart of spiritual being. Again he asserts the fact of his divinity and then, through a temporary identification with his body of sensory perception, of feeling, and of emotion, he finds himself at-one with the sensitive apparatus of divine manifestation which carries the love of God to all forms on the physical plane”. (Alice A. Bailey, A Treatise on White Magic – p. 246)

  1. Jo Garceau says:

An old woman nearing ninety years of age, the teenager exalted at Mass and Communion so long ago, at last finds words for a lifelong trajectory of intuition and Love. Time yet to tell the story. Time to share the endless ocean of vibration, of Love and Light and Power. Time to see it spreading like wildfire across the eternal sands.

  2. NancyC. says:

So Beautiful and Inspiring! We strive to be in touch with the Archetype of the Plan of the Grand Architect of the Universe insofar as we are able, and share what is perceived through our work of various kinds. Others pick up the blueprints of thoughts and sounds and colors and cooperate in the building of the Temple of the Lord on earth.
