3.4 – 4.3 Colour and Ray

From the Lambdoma of the Genesis of Ideas:

3.4 COLOUR Colour is the rainbow veil of Life

4.3 RAY – The Ray is the vital direction of the Centre

This Polarity of Ideas expresses and realises the primary relationship between:

3.3 LIGHT –  Light is the rhythmic motion of Fire

and

4.4 MODEL – The Model is the reflection of Life

Life conquers every spatial recess, giving rise to Manifestation, by means of a fiery impulse that manifests itself as Light, its rhythmic and cyclic motion as well as the “pencil” with which it traces psychogeometries in substance. This creative operation is in turn a Model for every other possible creation, at whatever level, since through the model we see the reflection of Life and its intimate structures.
Light and Model, therefore, intertwine and unfold in Space drawing arabesques of forms with the concurrence of their vehicles, Colour and Ray.

From the central core of Life, discontinuous and radiating, the Rays, the primordial Lights, depart like an iridescent swarm, launching themselves into Infinity and sprinkling it with the vital and creative fire with which they are imbued.

“… a Ray [contains] in itself the generative and conceptive power…” (1)

These [Rays] are straight lines, which can be defined as curves of infinite and therefore absolute radius. In the Infinite, line and circumference are one and the same geometric identity. Their apparent difference is only due to the fact that the rays, or straight lines, tend to the spatial Infinity and the multitude, while the circumference tends to the One, that is, to the absolute Centre. Those start from the One and fly to the Infinite; this one, on the other hand, starts from the Infinite and falls into the One. The rays arise from the central Unity and have no number; the circumference arises from the many and is one.” (2)

The incessant embrace between Rays and consciousnesses, harbinger of enlightenment, finds significance in the golden relationship we can establish between us and the Hierarchy, between us and the Stars:

Think of the stars that always give their light to humanity. Be like these stars and give your love, wisdom, and knowledge to others.” (3)

“Be like the ray of the sun, like the song of the bird.” (4)

“But where can one find the store of joy? Certainly not in the bazaar, but near the ray of Light, in the joy of Hierarchy.” (5)

“The Ray of Christ nourishes the Earth, just as the Rainbow of the Buddha conveys an affirmation of the law of life.” (6)

And it is Light that becomes the messenger of the pulsating Life of the Centre, painting on the palette of Space those colours that reveal its glory and intrinsic harmony. Colour, in fact, is “that iridescent veil of Life that is Beauty in its purest state and is the path that leads creation back to the original Reality”. (7)

When the Logos uttered the great cosmic Word for this solar system, three major streams of colour issued forth, breaking almost simultaneously into another four, so giving us the seven streams of colour by which manifestation becomes possible… These seven streams of colour were the product of logoic meditation. The Logos meditated, brooded, conceived mentally, formed an ideal world, and built it up in thought matter. Then our objective universe flashed into being, radiant with the seven colours…”. (8)

Thus the Colours weave the Mantle of the Mother of the World and, while concealing her power from those who cannot “see”, they reveal to the inner Eye the power that holds the cosmos, orders it and keeps it united in a Communion of lights, for “there is no ugliness that will not be swallowed up in the rays of the rainbow”. (9)

Colour is therefore ‘that which does conceal’. It is simply the objective medium by means of which the inner force transmits itself; it is the reflection upon matter of the type of influence that is emanating from the Logos, and which has penetrated to the densest part of His solar system.”. (10)

Thus Light and Model rule; thus Colour and Ray weave the Manifestation into a rainbow of creative possibilities.

Following the indication suggested by the etymological roots, we can see in the work of these two energies the fiery unfolding of the vital impulse and the enchanting veil that covers the blinding radiance of Life; we can see, finally, the sevenfold and luminous path that departs from the Centre and returns to the Centre, travelled unceasingly by the Pilgrims who have life and breath in the One.

We courageously advance into the Light
following the Ray and the Colour,
eternal Models of Life.
