The new religion will be one of Invocation and Evocation, of bringing together great spiritual energies and then stepping them down for the benefiting and the stimulation of the masses. The work of the new religion will be the distribution of spiritual energy and the protecting of humanity from energies and forces which they are not, at the particular time, fitted to receive. (…) The new world religion [primary Goal 6.6 of the Plan] must be based upon those truths which have stood the test of the ages. (…):
- The fact of God (God Transcendent)
- Man’s relationship to the divine (God Immanent)
- The fact of immortality
- The Brotherhood of man (God in expression)
- The existence of the Way to God
- The historicity of the two great Approaches and the possibility of a third and imminent Approach.

With such an enlightening synthesis of the Truths placed by the ancient Wisdom as the foundation of the New Religion, we begin this article, coloured by the 6th Ray*, dedicated to the Great Invocation and whose aim is resonating with the present-day celestial energies.
Today, in fact, we celebrate the heliocentric conjunction between Mars, non-sacred Luminary of the 6th Ray, to Neptune, sacred Luminary of the 6th Ray, Guardian of Communion and of the Solar Community, in the 7th sector of Pisces, the Sign which conveys, in the current precessional cycle, the energies of the 2nd and 6th Rays, connected respectively to Love/Wisdom and Devotion/Idealism. In Pisces, the will of the Father is implemented through the 2nd Ray energy or Christic Principle (Buddhi) as the will to save, enabling the appearance of the Christ as the Saviour of the world. The will of the 2nd Ray, concentrated in Shamballa, is expressed through Humanity and is fulfilled in the Hierarchy.
It is worth recalling that in the current 49-year (1987-2035) construction cycle or first ‘strike’ of the 49-goal planetary Plan, 2024 corresponds to the step 6.3 – Communion with the World of Ideas: it is the third year of the Sixth Septennium since the informing energy of the Sixth Ray of abstract Idealism was assumed as the primary Energy to sow the values and ideals of a new Culture and Civilisation and a new World Religion: a reunifying, synthetic, abstracting quality towards Essence, proper to the World of Ideas or Causes…
In particular, in the Lambdoma living Matrix of the inner Cycle of the Plan, Goal 6.3 combines within itself the Primary Goal 6.6 – New World Religion and 3.3 – Group Initiation: the Human Group must initiate itself into the Idea of Universal Unity and Brotherhood, towards the Communion of the Worlds.
It is therefore necessary to conceive and activate the thought-form of a One Humanity, hierarchical, animated by the Will to Good. (2024 Solar Rituality and Ephemerides)
Regarding the energy of the 6th Ray, the esoteric Teachings state:
The Lord of Devotion end Idealism. This solar Deity is a peculiar and characteristic expression of the quality of the solar Logos… This ray force, with the second ray, is a true and vital expression of the divine nature [of our solar Logos]. A militant focussing upon the ideal, a one-pointed devotion to the intent of the life urge, and a divine sincerity are the qualities of this Lord, and set their impress upon all that is found within His body of manifestation. (Alice Bailey – Esoteric Psychology I, p. 25)
The birth of the new era… will happen if—speaking esoterically—the sixth ray energy of Mars is transmuted into the sixth ray energy of Neptune, for the one is ‘objective and full of blood’ and the other is ‘subjective and full of life’. (Alice Bailey – Esoteric Astrology, p. 217)
The relationship between Mars and Neptune is particular: Along with Neptune, the 6th Ray of Mars is associated with the 6th Law of Love, one of the seven systemic Laws, corollaries to the main Law of Attraction (governed by Neptune as the second Scheme of Synthesis).
Another noteworthy fact is that these two meet on average 7 times in each Sign, about every 23 months. Their Rhythm of 7×12 conjunctions (7 full circles of Jupiter!) reveals the Sound and causal Purpose of their Relationship: in each Sign they emit a seven-pulse Star of Life to unify the upper triangle of Heart/Soul and the lower triangle of plexus/Personality. While Jupiter builds and teaches the beneficial fulfilment through the fusion of mind and heart, from Mars to Neptune, sensitivity, the basis of consciousness, rises from astral to Buddhic, from human to Christic; conversely, from Neptune to Mars, action, from conflictual and separative, becomes heroic, inspired by spiritual Vision and universal Compassion. Now, with these energies in our hearts, let us enter today’s theme with the help of some thoughts from the Teaching:
The first great Invocation was uttered by the planetary Logos when He expressed the desire to manifest and thus invoked and brought to Himself the substance needed for His designed expression. That started the chain of being or of hierarchy; inter-relation was then set up between all “substantial” units; the more potent and the more dynamic and greater could then impress the lesser and the weaker until gradually—as the aeons swept by—the seven Centres were created and were in close impressionable relationship. Of these seven we are at this time considering only three; the others we know very little about, for they are largely composed of units of the deva evolutions (and I would ask you to note the plurality there) and of subhuman lives, working under impression from the head, the heart and the throat centres of the planetary Logos… I would advise you that you think simply and (certainly, at first) in terms of the three major energies as they emanate from some centre, become impressing agents, and then are again transmitted or stepped down… (Alice Bailey – Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle, p. 129)
Today, an evolutionary alignment is taking place. The planetary centre which we call Humanity is active and vibrant, and it is now possible to “progress along the Upward Way and create the line which links the lesser with the higher, permitting thus an interplay”. Men are rapidly moving out of the human centre into the hierarchical centre; the mass of men are responding to spiritual impression. (Alice Bailey – Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle, p. 132 Statement Five)
At the same time, the heart centre of the planetary Logos, the Hierarchy, whilst it is being responsive to the invocation of the throat centre, Humanity, is becoming increasingly evocative and is itself attaining a much higher contact and alignment with the head centre of the planetary Logos; it is, therefore, capable of receiving a constantly developing dynamic impression from Shamballa. And now let us see the great formula of power:
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
This Invocation or Prayer does not belong to any individual or group, but to the whole of Humanity. The beauty and the strength of this Invocation lie in its simplicity, and in its expression of certain central truths which all people innately and normally accept: the truth of the existence of a basic Intelligence to Whom we vaguely give the name of God; the truth that behind all outer seeming, the motivating power of the universe is Love; the truth that a great Individuality, called by Christians the Christ, came to earth and embodied that love so that we could understand; the truth that both love and intelligence are effects of what is called the Will of God; and finally the self-evident truth that only through humanity itself can the divine Plan work out.
It has been difficult to translate into understandable and adequate phrases, the very ancient word-forms… These word-forms… will be potent in their invocative appeal, if said with mental intensity and ardent purpose. The points of emphasis upon which I would ask you to dwell (once it is permissible to use the phrases) are two in number:
1. May Christ return to earth. This return must not be understood in its usual connotation and its well-known mystical, Christian sense. Christ has never left the earth. What is referred to is the externalisation of the Hierarchy and its exoteric appearance on earth. The Hierarchy will eventually, under its Head, the Christ, function openly and visibly on earth. This will happen when the purpose of the divine will and the plan which will implement it is better understood and the period of adjustment, of world enlightenment and of reconstruction has made real headway… It will take time but the Hierarchy thinks not in terms of years and of brief cycles (though long to humanity), but in terms of events and the expansion of consciousness.
2. May it seal the door where evil dwells… The evil referred to has nothing to do with the evil inclinations, the selfish instincts and the separativeness found in the hearts and minds of human beings. These they must overcome and eliminate for themselves. But the reduction to impotency of the loosed forces of evil which took advantage of the world situation… which worked through barbarity, murder, sadism, lying propaganda and which prostituted science to achieve their ends, requires the imposition of a power beyond the human. This must be invoked and the invocation will meet with speedy response… (Alice Bailey – The Externalisation of the Hierarchy, pp. 489-490)
The Great Invocation marks the transition of prayer, an ancient form in use for millennia, to the formula of power, whereby man co-operates with the Cosmos rather than begging for help. It is an entirely different method of using solar energies, no longer required to gratify man and his purposes, but to realise the planetary Plan. Invocation, in fact, does not solicit something for its own sake: it works for the benefit of general development. It draws from it a teaching of great value, indicative of greater human maturity … it is directed to the common good.
It is composed of five brief stanzas, each of which is arranged in a triangle, so to speak, and so according to a geometrical plan and a plan of Rays… which speaks plainly by itself: it is a creative formula.
An examination of the attached figure is very explicit.
1. The first three stanzas refer, in order, to Light (3rd Vertex), Love (2nd Vertex) and Power (1st Vertex) and thus they make up the great superior and real triangle.
2. From each one of these three Vertices Light, Love and Power are invoked upon Humanity. Three great streams of energy which, thus evoked, converge in the centre of the great Triangle, where, as always, is the fourth Vertex (which is not a Vertex), in this case the human race, fourth kingdom of nature and capable therefore of reflecting and mirroring them downwards.
3. The three energies are fused in the human centre, which elaborates, in reply, a plan of its own and, by its good office and divine right, gives it out, creating order in chaos: Light, Love and Power re-establish the Plan.
4. It should be noted that the invocative motion starts from the third Vertex, not from the first. This fact demonstrates that it is an invocation; that is, a spiral which rises from below and stimulates replies from above; it could not be otherwise.
It is evident, now, that the Great Invocation is conceived like a six-pointed Star. Its structure, certainly, is more complex than it appears from this first examination, which is however sufficient to confirm the idea that one can and should use it in a group, the more so if this is arranged exactly along the fundamental and dynamic lines of its own structure. All disciples have at their disposal this great and powerful formula. They have used it, singly or in groups… There are no doubts as to its value and its contents and everyone recognizes that this is the winning weapon of the New Age. It is pervaded by an explicit will and has already worked successfully among the human race and is pronounced daily (among other things) by groups forming a triangle in many parts of the world. This last form of activity is of great esoteric value, according to the Tibetan Master, and is in accordance with a precise hierarchical project. (Ibid. cap. 6.1, pag. 86)
And such a Formula is the most powerful for initiating new relationships between Heaven and Earth.
The great Invocation, now pronounced all over the world by many thousands of men, certainly has a cosmic scope; the study of the solar System makes this clear, and it only takes a few sentences to recognise it:
1) From the point of Light in the divine mind… A point of Light shines in the firmament: it is Saturn, Lord of the third Ray. It creates and travels the fifth Orbit, which spreads the fifth Principle, the divine mind. This connects it to Venus, which is the mind principle bathed in the light of the third Ray.
2) From the point of Love in the divine heart… Jupiter manifests this centre, and illuminates the earthly nights. It vibrates and shines on the fourth Orbit, divine heart of the System. This links it to Mercury, who is the perfect Heart and circulates on the second Orbit, that is, on the waves of magnetic love.
3) From the center where the divine Will is known… This centre is Sun/Vulcan. Two centres: one visible, but unwatchable because of its power, and revealing all things; the other invisible, secret, true motive support of the whole, guardian of the divine Will.
These three Powers, acting on man, call him to cooperate with the solar System, for the common Good, executing the Plan according to co-measurement.
4) Let Light, Love and Will… Behold, thus invoked, the triangular Name of the Sun, the One.
(…) If the Great Invocation is uttered by groups of disciples structured according to the great hierarchical Model, the effectiveness of that instrument can only be greatly enhanced.

From Light, then, the Invocation ascends to Power through Love; then, from Shamballa, the Centre where the Will of God is known, it descends to the Hierarchy and Humanity. Its energetic path describes a cycle, which is summed up in his last stanza, once again from bottom to top…
There remains the last move (which is the first): for the plan of Love and Light to acquire project value, it must be directed towards a goal, a purpose: it must be infused with Will. This operation must not be polluted by personal desires, however noble and lofty. The plan must project itself into Infinity….
At first this difficulty seems insurmountable, as it always happens when the undertaking is great. The obstacle is overcome by “orienting” the plan thus formed. “Orienting” here means entrusting it to the higher Will, which disposes of it according to its reasons.
One does not make mistakes, however, if one orients it, for example, towards the current goal of the star of the 5** which, although it has a validity of no more than 12 years, is a secure part of the planetary plan… Correct orientation is a guarantee of success. Orienting a temple or thought-form to the north-east for example, or to the North Star, or to Alcyone or the Galactic Centre, activates different energy channels and potentials that will in-form the developments of the initial impulses. (TPS – The Order of Orion, only available in Italian)
It is, therefore, required of humanity, the fourth creative hierarchy, to play its part in accordance and harmony with the divine Will.
And today it is finally possible to approach, in small steps, and apply these great solar rules, using the Great Invocation in a rigorous manner, as an orderly and powerful sequence of commands issued to build in Space and respond to the fourth stanza of the Great Invocation:
‘From the human centre
let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells’.
